Specialty Contact Lenses

At Klear Sight Eyecare Center, we understand that every patient’s vision and eye health needs are unique. That’s why we offer specialty contact lens fitting services to provide personalized solutions for those with specific vision requirements or eye conditions.

Our experienced team, led by Dr. Korab Spahiu, is dedicated to helping you achieve clear, comfortable vision with the perfect contact lenses tailored to your needs.

Specialty Contact Lenses for a Variety of Conditions

We offer an extensive range of specialty contact lenses designed to address various eye conditions and vision requirements.

Whether you have dry eyes, keratoconus or have undergone a corneal transplant, we can help you find the perfect pair of contact lenses. In addition to our standard contact lenses, we also offer custom made soft contact lenses, rigid gas permeable lenses (GP lenses) and Scleral lenses. Our team is dedicated to helping patients achieve clear vision in all situations utilizing a variety of lens types.

The Fitting Process

Our specialty contact lens fitting process begins with a comprehensive eye examination to assess your vision and eye health. Based on the findings, Dr. Spahiu will recommend the most suitable contact lens type and design for your needs.

We take precise measurements of your eyes to ensure a perfect fit and optimal comfort. Once your custom lenses are ready, we’ll schedule a follow-up appointment to ensure they fit correctly, provide clear vision, and address any concerns or adjustments needed.

Rigid Gas Permeable Lenses

Also known as gas permeable contacts, they are made of firm, durable plastic that transmits oxygen. They offer excellent health: because they don’t contain water like soft lenses do, they resist deposits and are less likely than soft contacts to harbor bacteria.

Gas permeable contacts clean and disinfect easily, don’t dehydrate, are easier to handle, and last longer than soft lenses. And since GP contacts retain their shape better, they provide crisper vision than soft lenses. These lenses are great options for people with irregular corneas such as those with keratoconus but can work very well for healthy eyes are well

Scleral Lenses

They are called “scleral” lenses because, instead of covering only a portion of the cornea, these large lenses vault over the entire cornea and rest on the “white” of the eye (the sclera)

Because of their size, scleral lenses are more stable on the eye than conventional GP lenses, so they are less likely to accidentally dislodge from the eye. This stability also makes them more comfortable than conventional GP lenses; scleral lenses provide initial comfort similar to soft lenses, especially for sensitive eyes or irregularly shaped corneas.

Orthokeratology

Also known as Ortho-k, these are specially designed gas permeable lenses that you sleep in which over time will reshape the eye. The result of which is to give you clear vision during waking hours without glasses or contacts.

The first few weeks of beginning treatment you will need to use these lenses along with soft contact lenses, but after about 2 weeks the effects with last anywhere from 24-72 hrs. This is a great option for people that would like the convenience of not needing glasses or contacts but are too nervous or too young to consider LASIK.
